What AI training costs in Malaysia in 2026
You will find three public reference points for Malaysian AI training prices, and they broadly agree. CorporateTrainingMY's January 2026 cost guide lists AI and prompt engineering training at RM4,000 to RM12,000 per day for in-house delivery, or RM300 to RM600 per participant on public courses.
Pertama Partners' 2026 corporate AI training guide prices programmes per cohort. It lists RM3,000 to RM5,000 for a one to two day AI awareness programme, RM5,000 to RM8,000 for two to three days of AI for business professionals, and RM8,000 to RM15,000 for three to five day implementation workshops.
Dr Hariz's 2026 AI training cost guide gives no fixed figures. It describes the market as running from a few thousand ringgit for a single workshop seat to a customised day rate for in-house corporate programmes, which matches the two guides above.
For context, the same CorporateTrainingMY guide puts general corporate training in Malaysia at RM1,500 to RM15,000 per day and public programmes at RM500 to RM2,000 per participant. AI training sits in the upper half of that market because demand is high and experienced trainers are still scarce.
Every figure in this guide is a published market range, not a quote. Sylvia does not publish her rates. The three pricing models
Almost every AI training quote in Malaysia follows one of three models. Knowing which one you are looking at is the first step to comparing fairly.

In-house training is usually the best value per person once you have eight or more people. A RM10,000 day for twenty staff works out at RM500 each, with content built on your documents rather than generic examples. Public courses win for very small numbers. Online courses win on price but rarely change behaviour on their own, which matters more than the invoice.
What drives the price
Two AI workshops can look identical on a brochure and differ by RM8,000 on the quote. Five factors explain most of the gap.
- Trainer accreditation and track record. An HRD Corp Accredited Trainer with corporate operating experience costs more than a freelancer teaching from slides, and the claim process is smoother.
- Group size. In-house pricing is per group, usually capped around twenty participants. Splitting forty people into two sessions doubles the days, not the per-person value.
- Customisation on real work. A generic prompt course is cheap to repeat. A programme where participants build on their own documents and workflows needs preparation time, and that time is priced in.
- Duration. A half day covers awareness. A full day of seven training hours is the minimum for people to leave with something working. Two days add hands-on labs and scaling.
- Venue and logistics. On-site delivery at your office is normally included in the day rate within the Klang Valley. Travel to other states, hotel venues and equipment are quoted separately.
Dr Hariz's guide lists the same drivers in a slightly different order: format, duration, group size, customisation level, trainer credentials and add-ons such as follow-up consultations. The market is consistent on this. If a quote is far below the range, one of these five factors has been cut.
How HRD Corp claimability changes the real cost
If your company is registered with HRD Corp and contributes the levy, the sticker price is not your real cost. HRD Corp's Allowable Cost Matrix guidebook (January 2026 version) allows a course fee of up to RM10,500 per group per full training day for in-house courses, and RM6,000 per group for a half day.
For public courses, the same HRD Corp guidebook allows up to RM1,750 per participant per full day and RM1,000 per participant per half day. Most AI training in Malaysia is priced inside those ceilings. That means the course fee can be fully claimable under the SBL-Khas scheme, subject to your levy balance.
Two conditions matter. The grant must be approved before training starts, and the trainer must be accredited. Under HRD Corp's Employer's Circular No. 2/2026, effective 15 June 2026, training must begin between 14 and 90 calendar days after grant approval, and approved grants can no longer be amended. Plan about 30 days from application to approval.
There is one more lever for smaller companies. According to MyDIGITAL, Budget 2026 proposed an additional 50% tax deduction for MSMEs on AI and cybersecurity training accredited by MyMahir's National AI Council for Industry (NAICI). Ask your accountant whether a given programme qualifies.

The hidden costs nobody puts on the quote
The invoice is the smallest part of what AI training costs your organisation. Four costs sit outside it, and they decide whether the money was well spent.
- Time. Twenty people out of work for a day is twenty working days of salary. A programme that changes how they work pays that back in weeks. One that entertains them does not.
- Follow-up. Skills fade within a fortnight without use. Budget for a check-in session, a manager who asks about it, or a shared space where people post what they built.
- Tools. Most training assumes people can use ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or Gemini. If your IT policy blocks them, you need licences or an approved tool before the training date, not after.
- Internal coordination. Someone has to collect real documents, book the room, handle the HRD Corp grant and chase attendance. That is a day of an HR executive's time on a good week.
When you compare two quotes, add these costs to both. The cheaper day rate often needs more follow-up because less changed in the room.
How to compare quotes fairly
Quotes arrive in different units, with different inclusions, for different amounts of training. Put them through the same eight questions before you decide.
- 01Put every quote on the same unit. Convert per-pax prices into a per-group cost for your actual headcount, and per-day prices into a per-person cost.
- 02Check the training hours, not the days. HRD Corp counts a full day as seven training hours. A 10 AM to 4 PM session with a long lunch is a half day in disguise.
- 03Ask what participants leave with. A working assistant set up on their own documents is a different product from a slide deck and a certificate.
- 04Confirm the trainer's accreditation in writing and ask which registered training provider will handle the claim. Ask how many HRD Corp claims they have processed for AI training.
- 05Ask for the customisation process. What do they need from you before the day, and how long do they spend on it?
- 06Ask what happens after. Is there a follow-up call, a resource pack, or nothing?
- 07Check the numbers they show you. Survey results from real participants are worth more than logos on a slide.
- 08Speak to one past client. Ten minutes on the phone will tell you more than any proposal.
When cheap is expensive
A RM2,500 workshop that leaves people no more confident than before costs you RM2,500, plus a day of salaries, plus the next workshop you will need. That is the most common way Malaysian companies overspend on AI training: buying twice.
The other way is buying too much. A five-day technical programme for a marketing team that needs to write briefs and analyse campaign data is money spent on skills nobody will use.
The right question is not what AI training costs. It is what it costs to have a team that still cannot use AI in six months. Tools will change. Thinking won't.
